In 2016, Lexus unveiled its signature racing series “0 to 60 Engineered by Lexus” a thrilling automotive competition pitting celebrity drivers against one another for the title of ” 0 to 60″ champion. The first season took place in the California desert and at the famed Willow Springs International Raceway in Rosamond, CA. The intense track served as a showcase for the Lexus RC F and GS F.
Competitors for the inaugural series included groundbreaking professional race car driver Nicole Lyons, actor/celebrity driver Alfonso Ribeiro, NBA world champion/actor John Salley, and actor Donde T. Whitfield. After three rounds of precision drills behind the wheel of the state-of-the-art vehicles including the The Slalom and 0 to 60 to 0, Salley emerged as the winner.
This April, Lexus’ “0 To 60” returns for its sophomore season, with competitors this time tackling Road Atlanta, which at 2.5 miles long with elevations and sharp curves, is one of the world’s most intimidating road courses. The rosters, which have expanded and are broken down into two teams, will be led by team captains and award-winning professional race car drivers Scott Pruett and Jack Hawksworth. Team Pruett’s roster includes Tia Norfleet, the first Black female to be a registered driver for NASCAR, and actors Lamman Rucker and Redaric Williams. Team Hawksworth is made up of Olympic sprinter and gold medalist Carmelita Jeter, and actors Keith Robinson and J.D. Williams.
In season two, the teams will compete for both overall and individual rewards while behind the wheel of the Lexus GS F, RC F, and the brand new, 471 horsepower Lexus LC 500. This season’s individual winner, in addition to bragging rights, will be taking home a Lexus of their choice for an entire year.
