In the fall of 1989 Toyota launched a luxury line called Lexus. This line represents a company that was able to create a world-class luxury-car brand. The trademarks of this brand are a quiet, well-crafted cabin, a plush ride and outstanding performance from powerful, nearly silent engines. In order to be the best Lexus built hundreds of prototypes. These prototypes were built and tested on Germany’s autobahn and on U.S. roads.
In early 1989, the company unveiled its first two models:
-the entry-level ES 250
-the flagship LS 400.
The LS 400 was applauded by both critics and consumers alike for being a top-notch luxury car, with a unusually quiet cabin and a refined engine. As plush and luxurious as the Lexus was, there were critics. There were always the European competitors that that deemed their cars to be more exciting.
In the early 90s, the Lexus brand was expanded to other markets, including the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia. In addition to a larger marked more cars were added to the line, these being:
– the SC 300 and SC 400 coupes
– the GS 300
It was several years before Lexus expanded its line to include SUV’s. As the company grew Lexus added the LX and the RX 300. It was the RX, the crossover vehicle by Lexus, that made a name for itself in the Boise area. This car is by far the most popular Lexus sold at Peterson Lexus.
Over the years, the Lexus brand has distinguished itself time and again both quality and reliability. For those drivers who are interested in vehicles that emphasize quality, dependability and comfort, the Lexus marque is hard to beat.
